Effective exercises for kids playing tennis


Tennis seems to be a fun filled activity for kids. It is a game that creates excitement and makes them feel happy. Learning tennis is not a difficult task to do but it takes years to become an expert tennis player.
Some parents support their kids in playing tennis. They want them to become professional tennis players. For fulfilling this purpose, they send their kids to reputed tennis clubs to make them brilliant in this game.
Apart from this, many reputed schools introduce tennis to three to four year old kids in order to make them familiar with basic rules for playing tennis. Parents also encourage their children to join specialized tennis coaching centers to make them learn each and everything about tennis.
Tennis for kids is not more than holding a racquet and hitting ball but it is also important for kids to improve their fitness levels for performing well in this game. Fitness is of core value in tennis. A lot of footwork, stamina, and quickness are required to play this game in the best possible manner.
Now, the question that arises is what type of exercises children should do to improve their fitness levels? Mentioned below are some of the exercises that parents should ask their kids to do to fulfill their purpose effectively.
  • Muscle building exercises
Strength in muscles is basic requirement for playing tennis. Both kids and adults cannot play tennis till their legs and associated muscles are strong enough to bear pressure. There are different types of body movements that players need to make. In such circumstances, they will succeed while playing tennis only if they are fit and healthy.
Kids should begin with squats to make their muscles strong. Children can also hold dumbbells and perform a variety of exercise to improve their overall fitness levels.
  • Jumping exercises
The muscles involved in jumping are utilized fully while playing tennis. Therefore, it is a must to make these muscles strong. For fulfilling this purpose, children should get involved in various jumping exercises. For example, box jumps is one of the best exercises that you can do. Find a bench, which is not higher than your knees. Jump straight on the top of it and repeat this exercise for eight to ten times.
  • Running
Running is a good exercise that works the best in improving overall fitness levels. Running is essential for both kids and adults who want to make a successful career in tennis.
